the bay area. i got to spent it over san jose and san francisco. christina loren is here with your forecast. >>> you can't see much of the bay area with the dense fog widespread. no exception to the rule this morning. it is one of those days where it is probably the most severe fog since i have been here. if you are a resident, this is really, really dense fog. we have a feet visibility in san mateo. in the east bay this morning, good morning to you, fairfield, you are still socked in with a quarter mile visibility. as we head throughout the next couple of hours this will continue to be a factor. we have a dense fog advisory for the entire area until 11:00 a.m. the good news is once we get rid of all the fog we are looking at a pretty nice day. it is a holiday. you can get outdoors for the second half with temperatures climbing into the 60s for most cities. 49 degrees in san francisco. 48 in santa cruz. and it is a good thing we are starting out warm because it is a mandatory spare the air day in the east bay. that means you could get fined if you light that chimney. so don't worry

the hour-by-hour east bay forecast with christina loren. good morning, christina. >>> good morning, scott. if you have been enjoying this beautiful weather, we have more in store for today. high pressure firmly in control of our weather pattern. and it looks like we don't have any rain in sight because of this really strong ridge of high pressure at least for the next seven days. so a sunny afternoon is what you can expect the next few days. it will be a beautiful weekend, but today we'll see temperatures about 10 to 15 degrees above average this time of the year. we are starting out relatively mild. in oakland, good morning to you, 53 degrees. 52 in concord. we are expecting highs by noon to rise above the seasonal averages, which is 57 degrees this time of the year. we'll be in the 60s as of noon. making your way home from work today, as we get closer and closer to the weekend, 64 in sunnyvale at 3:00 p.m. we'll let you know how warm it will be and even warmer for tomorrow. back to you, scott. >>> we'll go to mike. warm weather is bringing in wind and blusteriness as you are driv

morning. everyone. i'm scott mcgrew. let's check the forecast with christina loren. happy tuesday to you. >>> happy tuesday to you. especially if you have been enjoying the warmer temperatures. yesterday we broke temperature records in concord and hayward where they were 67 degrees. three degrees warmer today. we are talking about the 70s in late january in the bay area. very rare. all because the high pressure will not get out of the way. it is firmly positioned right over our area. it won't be moving throughout the rest of this week. temperatures in the east bay are in the low 40s. 40 in livermore. 41 in concord. right now we are starting out a little warmer than we were at this time yesterday. i'm bumping up the highs today. look at what to expect. 70 in fairfield and concord. and 70 degrees in livermore. we'll let you know just when we are expecting the next rain showers in our forecast. it will be quite some time, but i can tell you when. let's go to mike inouye with the commute. >>> you are saying 70 in january, holy cow. we have construction over near 880 and 92. we have a cou

, everyone. let us start with christina loren and the east bay forecast. good morning. >> good morning. things are looking good right now if you are headed out. we have good visibility and headed over to the north bay, it can be problematic with patchy fog. we are in the 40s and pretty mild with a good deck of clouds overhead. 1.5 miles of visibility. about a mile and a half if you are headed towards santa rosa. fog will be a factor this morning. take it easy out there. we will find out if it affects the roadways. >> we will find out right now. let's go to mike. >> she county jails you mr. out of byron and brentwood. down to 580 in livermore, there is a disabled vehicle block the southbound direction. you should be able to get by and they are moving it to the shoulder. a heavy volume heading to 580 and highway 4 proper through aspect ok. spee you will see a steady flow of traffic through antioch and the carquinas and benicia bridges. both are clear. no fog or wind advisories, but as christina is talking about, patchy and dense fog. she is watching the weather system as well. >>

scott mcgrew. we'll check your hour-by-hour east bay forecast with christina loren. >>> good morning to you. it is an early hour on a monday morning. good thing is that it is not that cold in the south bay, but it is 2 degrees above freezing in napa. if you are waking up in the beautiful east bay, temperatures are somewhere in between. the upper 30s right now. 37 in livermore. 39 in concord. 37 in fairfield. we do have a lot of fog developing out there this morning. and that will be the case likely until we hit sunrise and thereafter. probably until about noon for the east bay today. you'll see those low clouds out there. once they lift and break apart, we'll have mostly sunny conditions. a gradual warm up starts today lasting into the weekend. we had showers yesterday. no more showers in the forecast. but the sunshine is coming and we'll let you know how warm it is expected to be coming up. let's check on the morning drive with mike inouye. >>> a lot offon yawning is going on out there, same for in here. high yacht street at 880 has the on-ramp closed until 5:00 a.m. this is a live loo

you. and christina loren with a beautiful forecast ahead. good morning. >>> yes, good morning. you sound like a man who wants to hear this. if you are heading in from the east bay, lookout for some haze. we are doing really well in terms of temperatures for this time of the morning, but visibilities are something we are going to be concerned with as we lost that warming wind. unfortunately, we had a really nice offshore wind yesterday, so we started out mild this morning. it is much, much cooler as high pressure has retreated off to the east just a little bit. but right now we have a pretty good wind in hayworth southeast at 6 miles per hour. a calm wind along the peninsula. that could create some fog heading throughout this morning as we do have high pressure still compressing everything in the atmosphere. chilly conditions for the first part of the day turning over to temperatures close to the 70s once again. we hit 69 in santa cruz yesterday. 63 is the forecasted high. if you are waking up in concord, good morning to you. 65 degrees today. we have the extended forecast coming up

your forecast with christina lor loren. it has been pretty nice. >> pretty nice. and there is more on the way for today. i think today is going to be the last day with abundant sunshine. more clouds tomorrow, so if you're someone wanting to get out into the sun, today is the day. 44 in oakland, 47 in santa cruz. and 52 degrees in san mateo. so salinas yesterday hit 75. unusual for this time of year. as we head throughout the day today, it's going to be a little cooler in some cities, those are the the cities that pick up the fog. we've got dense fog in fairfield and concord. that will prevent the sunshine from warming you up as much as yesterday. we have 3/4 mile visibility, less than 200 feet in spots of santa rosa. you want to take it easy. this will be the case throughout the morning. we expect it to drift to the sou south. today, 69 degrees in redwood city, 69 in fremont, through the next few days temperatures are going to stay consistent. we'll talk about why and when the next rain is expected coming up. your traffic now with mike inouye. >> we'll be checking in with mike in a

loren, visibility is down to less than 200 feet in some areas. the fog is along 680 and the sunol grade. also on the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. it is expected to be the thickest at sun rise, so that's the heart of the commute. drive accordingly. the worst thing you can do is turn on the high beams. that only makes visibility worse. so use your low beams and fog lights today. of course, you are going to want to reduce your speed, slow it down and drive slower than you typically do. it is misting out. use your wipers to help with the visibility issue. and in the thickest areas this morning, always use the right edge of the road as a guide. and a dense fog advisory is posted for much of the bay area through 11:00 this morning. now, as far as the airports are concerned, san jose international is reporting delays because of the fog. some flights heading to denver this morning are delayed just over an hour. as for sfo and oakland, no fog-related delays to report just yet, but always a good idea to check with the air carrier before you head to the airport today if you have a flight to ca

that in loren is getting us ready with the hour-by-hour forecast. >>> good morning to you. it will be a beautiful day once again. we are seeing temperatures in the san francisco area about as warm as they are in august. the average high for the month of august is 69 degrees. that's what we are forecasting today in san francisco. hey, it is still wintertime. high pressure have the reason for it being so warm. the change will come in as early as tomorrow with the onshore flow. it could happen as early as tonight to stop the down-sloping winds. today's forecast is tricky. we are looking similar to what we saw yesterday, but i think heading throughout the morning tomorrow the biggest difference will be we won't see the really dense fog in the san joaquin and east bay. this morning we have really dense fog in places like livermore, concord and fairfield. take it easy out there. santa rosa is checking in with a half mile of visibility. that's the case until 11:00 a.m. after that the sun comes out to warm us up once again to about 69 degrees in napa. 69 degrees in oakland. and 70 in los g

to get you started with a look at the traffic and weather. we start off with christina loren. is it true? is it going to be balmy? >> i don't think balmy is the proper word, but i was right about the 63 yesterday. i'm glad i amped up the temperatures. it was a mild day. places near santa cruz ended up at 68 degrees. we had 63 in san jose and morgan hill was 63 and 65 was the big winner for the bay area in saratoga. we start out mild, not as mild as it was yesterday. temperature-wise towards the low 60s and a few showers to the north. we will let you know if you can expect that coming up. >> the showers may affect the drive. things tend to slow down. what we are looking at right now, an accident that took place overnight, but there might be activity. chp is on scene a car went into a ditch by san bruno avenue. you might see flashing lights and a distraction. keep that in mind. the travel on 101 moving smoothly into the city and north of 92. north and southbound 101 on a normal schedule. we will slow around 7:00 or 7:30, we will see good slowing starting early. over to you. >> it's 5:

laura garcia-cannon. i want to get you moving with a look at the forecast with christina loren. >> it's easier to move when it's not bitter cold. that is the case in places like san francisco, 55. 52 in san mateo. a little cooler in gilroy at 36. i think gilroy will be one of the warmest cities in all of the bay area. the capital warming up to 72. gilroy's expected to be at 64, 60 in san jose and 60 in santa cruz. you will notice the temperature around noon in fairfield and napa still on the cool side. a lot of low cloud cover from the san joaquin valley. it's going to prevent the sunshine from coming in as strong. so temperatures aren't expected to be as warm in the north. 70 degrees in los gatos and 69 in redwood city. the extended forecast is on the way. we'll let you know when we expect rain showers. let's check your traffic with mike inouye. >> good morning. you know the fog is going to cause slowing. keep that in mind in the east bay. to an east bay accident, no major fog off the dumbarton bridge. an accident reported on the embankment. that's under that central avenue sign there

christina loren, visibility is down to less than 200 feet in some parts of the bay area. and it is expected to be the thickest at sunrise, so really in the heart of the morning commute. you do need to drive accordbly accordingly. the worst thing you can do in fog is turn on your high beams. use your low beams and fog lights today. slow it down, drive slower than you usually do. and we had to use our wipers as we made our way up 101 this morning because of the due dew and mist in the air. and in the thickest areas this morning, always use the right edge of the road as a guide. now, we have a dense fog advisory posted through 11:00 this morning. i checked the airports this morning, so far no flight delays to report, but, of course, that could change at any given moment. so if you do have a flight to check this morning, go ahead and call in to check with your airline to see if the fog is going to delay you. and how about an interesting fog fact this morning according to wikipedia. one of the foggiest land areas in the world is in the bay area, but it is not san francisco that is famou
